Investing in the San Diego Community

Sempra Energy employees are united by the opportunity to make a positive impact on the communities they serve.

Employees support many worthy causes, including the Monarch School – an innovative school that provides education and essential services to girls and boys in San Diego County who are homeless, from kindergarten to 12th grade. Through on-site medical care, laundry services, showers and clothing, Monarch helps children without permanent homes to be safer, healthier and thrive.

This year, Jeffrey Martin, chairman and CEO of Sempra Energy, co-chaired Monarch’s fundraising event with his wife, Lisa. They also presented a graduate school scholarship to a former Monarch student at the event.

“At Sempra Energy, our vision is to deliver energy with purpose,” said Martin. “To me, that means committing to improving the lives of those we serve, and one way we can do this is to invest in our communities. I’m truly inspired by Monarch’s mission and I’m pleased to see so many people step up to support the cause.”

Under Martin’s leadership, and with the support of Sempra Energy, employees and others throughout the community, over $1.9 million was raised earlier this month for the nearly 350 students experiencing homelessness in the San Diego area.
