Oncor and the Sempra Energy Foundation Donate $2.2 Million to Strengthen Texas Community

Oncor Electric Delivery Company, a Sempra Energy company and the largest electric distribution company in Texas, has committed a total of $1.7 million to aid with COVID-19 relief in its service area in support of first responders, health care professionals and families in need. This includes $500,000 that Oncor is giving to North Texas Cares, a Dallas-based funders' collaborative, along with an additional $500,000 the Sempra Energy Foundation has pledged to an Oncor Foundation that will distribute relief and aid within its service area through North Texas Cares.

Additionally, the Sempra Energy Foundation has given another $500,000 to assist nonprofit organizations in other parts of Texas, including Houston, Port Arthur, Beaumont and other southeast Texas communities, in support of first responders, health care professionals, low-income seniors, children and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, contributions total $2.2 million in COVID-19 relief to Texas.

“The Sempra Energy Foundation is proud to support the work being done by Oncor to provide meaningful COVID-19 relief across Texas,” said Molly Cartmill, director of corporate citizenship for Sempra Energy. “Oncor is a company that’s doing spectacular work—their employees are continuing their operations out in the field while maintaining the power grid and vital electric delivery to millions of homes and businesses.”

In order to reach vulnerable or heavily impacted populations, such as seniors, children, homeless, and low-income or displaced workers and families, Oncor chose to partner with North Texas Cares, a coalition of organizations comprised of North Texas foundations and United Way chapters.

Other recipients include Paul Quinn College, the Tarrant County Food Bank and North Texas Food Bank, and additional local nonprofit organizations across Oncor’s service territory in West, Central and East Texas.

Sempra Energy is proud of Oncor, along with our entire family of companies, for the ways in which they’ve stepped up to strengthen communities in response to COVID-19.
