Oncor Promotes Electric Safety at Schools Across Texas

The Sempra Energy family of companies connect millions of customers to the power they rely on every day, and a critical component of providing that energy is ensuring the safety of customers and employees.

As part of this commitment, Oncor launched the Super Safe Kids program last year to raise awareness about the importance of electric safety at schools.

As part of the program, utility workers travel to elementary schools around Oncor’s service territory to give an interactive presentation to students, teaching them how to identify potential dangers and how to react in harmful situations.

The presentation also covers storm safety and a demo to show what happens when an electric current from a power line comes in contact with tree branches or other objects.

To date, Oncor has completed more than 75 presentations and has reached nearly 40,000 students. In 2019, Oncor aims to visit another 75 schools, which would bring their total to 150 schools visited and 80,000 students reached.
