Video: CEO Jeff Martin Addresses Energy Transition in Keynote Speech

Martin Delivered Keynote Speech at S&P Global Platts’ Global Energy Outlook Forum

Sempra Energy's Chairman and CEO, Jeffrey Martin, delivered the keynote speech last week at S&P Global Platts' Global Energy Outlook Forum in New York, addressing the future of the rapidly evolving energy industry, trends affecting the sector and the need for leadership and innovation to address global issues.

“I believe that the 21st century will be the ‘century of energy,’ and I think the United States in particular will have a big role to play,” said Martin in his keynote speech. “We have the opportunity as an industry to deliver a more sustainable energy system that supports the needs of a changing world.”

Growing in North America While Having a Global Impact

Sempra Energy is working to capitalize on the opportunities created by the energy transition and the United States' growing leadership position in the global energy market. Sempra Energy is focused on growing in the most attractive markets in North America with a view toward having a global impact. Through its strategically located liquefied natural gas (LNG) development projects, the company is developing the infrastructure that can directly dispatch LNG into Atlantic and Pacific markets to deliver cleaner, more reliable and more affordable energy to the world.

Convening with Energy Leaders

The Global Energy Outlook Forum is an annual event held in New York City, bringing together a large global audience of energy executives and industry leaders to discuss power and energy topics driven by social, political and economic issues around the world. The key themes for this year's event were the energy transition and how the industry is investing in the future.

Sempra attendees included: Jeffrey Martin, chairman and CEO; Trevor Mihalik, executive vice president and chief financial officer; Faisel Khan, senior vice president of finance and investor relations; Lisa Alexander, vice president of corporate communications and sustainability; Bruce MacNeil, vice president and treasurer; Patrick Lee, president and co-inventor, PXiSE Energy Solutions; and Hanna Grene, strategy and partner development project manager, PXiSE Energy Solutions.

In addition to the Global Energy Outlook Forum, S&P Global Platts hosted the Global Energy Awards this week. Sempra Energy was a finalist for the Energy Transition Award and Martin was a finalist for the CEO of the Year Award. PXiSE was a finalist for the Grid Edge Award. These award nominations are a reflection of the positive impact Sempra Energy’s 20,000 employees have delivering energy with purpose around the world.
